Shels playing against the wind and short several regulars drew first blood when Feargal Hynes converted a free. Paddy Whitty from Adamstown goaled and Adamstown almost added a second moment’s later only for the quick reaction of Aidan Cash saving the shot. Colin Redmond added a point after a foul and this was to be Shels last score of the first half. Shels were denied a late goal chance by the Adamstown keeper. David Stafford and Ian Gallagher amassing a further 1-6 before the break to leave the half time score 1-7 to 0-2 in favour of Adamstown.
Shels started the brighter of the two teams in the second half. Points from Joe Kelly, Niall Stafford, Aidan Cash and James Gordon keeping Shels in touch, however Adamstown replied with 1-3 again from David Stafford and Ian Gallagher with the goal being from a massive kick that swirled in the wind and dropped unexplainably into the shels net. With the Shels working hard to stay in touch they tagged on three more points from Brian Doyle, Alan Griffith and Colin Redmond but Adamstown were piling on pressure and keeping a healthy lead. Just on full time, James Gordon and Alan Griffith combined and sent a superb pass to Liam Donnelly, who needed no prompting to put it in the back of the net. However it was too little too late and Adamstown won out 2-13 to 1-9.
