Seniors good win over Bunclody

bbOur senior hurling team had a great win over Bunclody away on Sat eve.

Shels started the brighter and had a good 08-05 lead before Joe Kelly from a side line cut found Noel Mythen who calmly batted the sliothar into the back of the net.  The half time score was 1-9 to 0-5. Bunclody came out all guns blazing in the second half. We had lost Chris McGrath and Ciaran O’Shaughnessy at half time and for a while Shels strugggled to regain the compusure they had for the first half. Bunclody hit 0-4 in a row before Benny Barron steadied the ship with a brace of points (1F). The excellent Brian Malone then found Noel Mythen free and he notched his second major of the day. Bunclody replied with another attack yielding 0-5 without reply, leaving the score 2-11 to 0-14 a gap of just 2 points.  However Shels, who now had a low lying sun in their eyes, stepped up another gear and the outstanding Benny Barron was cleaning up on the half forward line and together with Joe Kelly (2) and James Gordon hit 0-4 to leave the final score 2-15 to 0-15. The on form Brian Murphy had another excellent game in the goal and denied Bunclody several times.

We wish Chris McGrath and Ciaran O’Shaughnessy a speedy recovery from injuries sustained in the game.
