Juniors lose to Harriers

Harriers see off Shels in Junior Hurling Championship:

The Shelmalier Junior hurlers took in near neighbours Faythe Harriers in the first round of the championship in Taghmon on Monday evening last. The first 15 minutes were evenly contested with the sides level at 1-3 with Feargal Hynes getting the Shels goal and points from Willie O Shaughnessy, Ibar Murphy and Chris Gordon. Further points from Chris and Ibar (2) meant the sides were again level in the last five minutes of the half. However, the Harriers pulled ahead before half time with two late points. Willie O Shaughnessy pointed on the resumptions but for the next 15 minutes the Harriers were completely dominant scoring five unanswered points. The Shels did come with a late rally with points from Feargal Hynes and Ibar Murphy, but it was too late with the Harriers winning on a final score of 1-13 to 1-9.
