Junior hurlers account for Harriers

Our junior hurlers came from behind to take a win over Faythe Harriers in Hollymount this afternoon. Final score 1-10 to 0-12.

Harriers were first out of the blocks but John Redmond (F) and Willie O’Shaughnessy levelled the sides. Harriers enjoyed a good passage of play amassing 3 more points whilst Shels fought hard to stay in contention. John Redmond and Ibar Murphy kept them in touch with 3 points (1F) to see the half time score 0-8 to 0-5 to the visitors.

Cathal Gaule was the first to point on the resumption and when Harriers were awarded a 21 yard free, Brian Murphy did excellent to deflect the shot over the bar and save the goal. Harriers got two points in quick succession before John Redmond (F) and an excellent Ronan Kavanagh point. At this stage the hard working Brian Tobin collected a ball and coolly spotted the in rushing Ibar Hurler Murphy who made no mistake as he sent the sliothar to the back of the net. The sides were level 1-8 to 0-11. The on form John Redmond tapped another two free’s over whilst Harriers tagged a late point to leave the final score 1-10 to 0-12. A win by the narrowest of margins for the Shels.
