Senior Hurling

Our senior hurlers gave a great display against Cloughbawn yesterday evening in Hollymount in their opening league game.

Cloughbawn drew first blood, but Joe Kelly responded with a free, to even up the sides. Cloughbawn pointed 3 more times before three Shels players combined to find Joe Kelly loose, where he scored an exceptional goal. Moments later Chris McGrath and Noel Mythen combined to add another major. Cloughbawn replied with 2 points but Joe Kelly majored again and Brian Doyle pointed on the cusp of half time. 3-2 to 0-8. On the resumption Alan Griffith quicky sent the sliothar over the bar before Cloughbawn replied with 2 points. A dream passage of play then followed for Shels with Joe Kelly adding 0-5 and Noel Mythen 1-0 and James Gordon 0-1. A few late consolation points for Cloughbawn left final score 4-9 to 0-15. A tremedous team performance from the entire team. A staunch goalie and defence, strong midfield and great attacking forwards.
