Shels make it 5 in a row

Shelmaliers made history in Patricks Park today when they lifted the Jim Byrne Cup for the fifth year in a row.

They beat Enniscorthy town side Starlights by 2-7 to 1-5. Captain Glen Murphy accepted the cup on behalf of the team and Craig McCabe was deservedly awarded the man of the match. Others to shine on the day were AJ Lehane and goalie Shane Birney who pulled off 4 goal saves during the course of the game (2 penalties). Indeed either were candidates for the man of the match award. James Cash, Paraic O’Leary, Neal Rossiter,Glen Murphy and Kevin O’Connor led by example on a day when the entire team played extremely well.
