1910 Commemoration Day.

The National President of the GAA Mr. Christy Cooney will be the guest of honour of the Shelmalier GAA Club at our special ‘1910 Commemoration Day’ which will be hold on Sunday week next 21st November.

Christy will be joined by fellow National Presidents Ms. Joan O Flynn and Mr. Pat Quill of camogie and ladies football respectively. Bishop of Ferns Denis Brennan will celebrate a special 1910 mass at 12 noon in Castlebridge church which will be followed by the annual laying of a wreath at the 1910 monument outside the church. Proceedings will then move to Hollymount where both the 1910 memorial garden and the Hollymount Complex building will both be officially opened. The day will then conclude with refreshments, speeches and presentations in the main hall of the complex building. November 21st will therefore be a very special day not only for the Shelmalier GAA Club and all involved in the promotion of Gaelic games in the ‘Over the Water’ area, as we commemoration not only the past deeds of the 1910 men but of all past members and supporters and celebration the future with the official opening of the all new sports complex in Hollymount. The Shelmalier GAA Club extents a warm invitation to the ‘Commemoration Day’ to all our members, players, parents and supporters both past, present and future.
