Juniors put in strong 2nd half to win

Our Junior team despite being 5 points down at half time, put in a strong second half performance to beat Gusserane 0-12 to 0-9.

This was in no small part due to the accurate free taking of John (Foxy) Redmond. Shels were playing against a strong wind and whilst Seamie Harding, Denis Kelly (0-2) pointed we still went into the break 0-8 to 0-3 down. Shels brought on fresh legs in the form of Feargal Hynes and Shane Griffith and this coupled with wind advantage helped stem Gusserane’s dominance.  Feargal broke down several balls and this coupled with consistant fouling by Gusserane augured well for the Shels. John Redmond was flawless and converted free after free, whilst Fergie Parker also converted his long range free at the start of the second half. Points from Ronan Kavanagh and Shane Griffith meant Shels ran out deserved winners 0-12 to 0-9.
