Under 12 Hurling against Rapparees.

Our under 12 hurlers made the trip to Bellfield last Tuesday evening to take on the
Rapparees in the Coiste Na Nog League

. Two eleven a side games were played with
the Shels boys coming on on top in both games.
Game one was a closely fought affair in which the Rapps went in at half time leading
2.04 to 1.05. Christopher Cowman got the Shels goal along with points from Kevin
Harte(2), Stuart Fanning, Shane Pierce and Jordan Hunt. Our boys started the second
half strongly with Peter Doyle and Adam Hearne giving away nothing at the back.
An Adam Howlin goal followed by points from Kevin Harte and Shane Pierce left the
Shels leading by 2 points with 10 minutes remaining. The Rapps hit back with a goal
and two points but Niall Hearne then hit a rich vein of form scoring two goals and a
point to leave the Shels winning 4.08 to 3.06.
Game two was a more one sided affair with the Shels boys too strong for their opponents.
It was the Rapps who took an early lead scoring a goal and two points without reply. Dan
Campbell goaled for the Shels followed by points from Kyle Roche and Nathan Murphy.
Another goal from James Doyle and a point from Michael O Rourke left our boys leading
by five points halfway through the first half. Another Dan Campbell goal and a point from
Craig Parker left the half time score Shels 3.04 Rapps 2.03.
Conor Hearne moved into midfield for the second half and it was from that point on that
the Shels lads took total control with Conor producing some excellent hurling. Sean Keane
and Mark Power were excellent at the back for our lads clearing everything that came their
way. Goals from Liam Rockett(2), Dan Campbell(2), Kyle Roche and Nathan Murphy left
the final scoreline Shels 9.11 Rapps 3.06.
