Minors finish strong

Our Minor Football team continued on their winning ways with a hard fought but well deserved victory over St Annes on Wednesday night on a score line of 4:10 to 1:10.

However in fairness to the home team the 9 point Shels victory was not a real reflection of how the game went as half way through the second half there was only 2 points between the teams. But two quick goals, one a goalkeeping mistake and the other a brilliant Jack Murphy finish, swung the game in our favour. The opening exchanges were close but when St Annes goaled after 13 Mins they led by 2 points. However a brilliant Shels response saw two goals put on the board, brilliant finishes by Craig Mc Cabe and Simon Murphy, so at half time we led by 2 points. The second half was equally close but the two quick green flags for our boys swung the game in our favour and we held out for a great win. Best on the night were Conor Tobin, Aj Lehane and Neil Rossiter in defence and Craig Mc Cabe, Brian Murphy, Simon Murphy and Jack Murphy in attack.
