Ferns played their usually brand of camogie, dogged, and led throughout most of the match. St. Ibars / Shelmeliers regardless how hard they tried could not get the better of Ferns or the referee who certainly did not favour the away team. However given St. Ibars / Shelmeliers poor performance two points only separated the side at half time. The second half showed some improvement with St. Ibars / Shelmeliers showing promise but a disallowed goal in the first ten minutes, which would have seen them take the lead, deflated the team once again. Evidently lady luck failed to shine as St. Ibars / Shelmeliers accounted for more than 12 wides throughout the game resulting in a defeat at the hands of Ferms. However league games are there to learn from and build on and St. Ibars / Shelmeliers have plenty to work for given that they have only come together two weeks prior, proving they have the players to be potentially a very formidable side.
On a wind swept bank holiday Monday St. Ibars / Shelmeliers made the repetitious journey to Ferns to play in the second round of the league campaign. Having showed great promise against Monageer last week in their first outing this performance could be best described by the weather, lack lustre and uneventful.
