Club person of the year

Rich Doyle the captain of the 1910 All Ireland hurling team received the Shelmalier GAA Clubs  ‘Club Person of the Year’ posthumously at the Wexford District GAA Award ceremony in the Riverbank House Hotel on Sunday night last Sunday night.

His son Pat Doyle of Coole Castlebridge received the award not only on his father’s behalf but also on behalf of the whole 1910 team.  It is with a great sense of pride and privilege that we the Shelmalier Club make our nomination for these awards. We do so in the knowledge that it is customary to nominate an individual but also in the knowledge that given the significance of this year to our Club, our Parish and indeed, our County, our choice needed no debate or discussion, and indeed we feel it would be the unanimous choice of our whole Parish.
