Three goals in the last 5 minutes from Faythe Harriers, saw Shels lose their opening game of the league by 3 points in Pairc Charman this evening.
Our senior hurlers met Faythe Harriers in Pairc Charman on Sunday evening last and it proved to be a closely contested game. The team were without the services of our Co. players, Stephen Banville, Eoin Doyle and David Walsh who were all on county duty. Shels against the wind in the first half went into the break 0-7 to 0-8. Accurate free taking by Benny Barron was an important factor of the day. Shels having the wind in the second half, then stepped up a gear and appeared to be coasting to a comfortable win whilst leading by 6 points with 5 minutes remaining. Disaster struck then with us conceding 3 goals in those five minutes to leave the final score 0-17 to 3-11. A very disappointing result for a huge work rate and big effort from all the players on the day.
