The Alley started brightest with four unanswered points but shels pulled back with points from Neal Rossiter and Kevin O Connor. Before a good team move set Kevin O Connor up for a good goal. It was end to end stuff for the remainder of the half and we went in behind by 9 pts to 1-03. On the resumption our lads took the game to their opponents and with Neal Rossiter flawless from frees and Kevin O Connor, Graham Staples and Johnny Forde all chipping in scores, we led by four points. A 21 yard Alley free on the stroke of full time tested the nerves a bit but our lads were not to be denied. Stevie McGuire was solid in goal and was well protected by the back-line of the three Eoghans (Fitzgerald,(capt.) O’ Leary and Nolan), Kevin Byrne, Sim Donohue and James Cash. Neal Rossiter(0-09) and Graham Staples(0-01) won the mid field for us and the forward line of Aaron Ryan, Kevin O’ Connor(1-02), Sean Byrne, Evan Devereux, Adam Whitmore and Johnny Forde(0-01) put in a solid hours hurling. Colin Cleary impressed when introduced and the other panel members Conor Howlin, Gavin Potter and Kevin Kehoe will all get there chance. Shelmaliers 1-13. Buffers Alley 1-12.
