Shels with an impressive performance secured their place in the senior ranks for next year with an emphatic 2-18 to 0-8 win over Duffry Rovers in Oulart, on Sunday morning .
Shels were the slower to settle and Duffry had gone into a three point lead before David Walsh gave a neat pass to Colin Kehoe to register Shels first point. Stephen Banville added an excellent point whilst Duffry pointed from a free soon after. Further points from the storming Colin Kehoe (2) and Stephen Banville before a great pass from David Cloney found Tommy Barron who blasted the ball to the back of the net for Shels. Additional points from Joe Kelly (free) Brian Doyle and Tommy Barron whilst Duffry only managed one last point before the break left the half time score 1-8 to 0-6.
Shels buoyed by their great first half performance stormed onto the field and found a second gear on the resumption. A fine point from Tommy Barron, before Joe Kelly on a great run found Stephen Banville in front of the goal to take Shels second major of the game. Shels piled on the pressure and a further 9 points were added on whilst Duffry could only manage two points in the entire half. Final score 2-18 to 0-8.
On a day when the entire team played their hearts out and returned to the form they are renowned for, Brian Malone and David Walsh were outstanding, whilst Stephen Banville, Colin Kehoe, Tommy Barron, Seamie Harding and Conor Walsh were on top form.
