Rackard League

The Rackard League Football Competition began this week with our boys playing
two games in the space of three days. The team is a mixture from the three local
schools Castlebridge/Screen/Curracloe.

The first game was Monday last in Hollymount against Fethard in which our boys
came out on top on a scoreline of 5 10 to 5 05 in a most entertaining game.
Playing with a very strong wind in the first half and with some great play from the
likes of Stephen Rossiter, Joe Redmond, Liam Rockett and Shane Neville we led
at half time 2 08 to 3 01. Fethard started the second half strongly and notched up
a goal and three points without reply. It was then that our lads really got going and
out scored Fethard for the last 20 mins. although playing into a gale force wind.
Dan Campbell, Dylan Potter, Kyle Roche and Enda Cloake shone brightly as our
lads ran out comfortable winners in the end. Dan Campbell was top scorer closely
followed by Conor Hearne and Liam Rockett. Final score Castlebridge 5 10.
Fethard 5 05.

The second game was on Wednesday last against Wexford C.B.S. and was again in
Hollymount. This was a great team display from the boys and they asserted them-
selves from early on when they went into a 2 05 to 0 02 lead. Paul McCleane, Peter
Doyle, Mark Power and Miguel Fernandez were excellent at the back as was Enda
Cloake and Sean Keane in midfield. Johnny Walker and Liam Rockett were on fire in the forward line. The half time score was 5 04 to 1 03 in favour of the home team.
The second half was much the same and with Nathan Murphy, Craig Parker and
Miguel Fernandez all hitting the back of the net as we ran out comfortable winners on
a scoreline of 8 07 to 1 06. Seamus Ronan John, Kevin Harte,James Doyle, Jack
Murphy and Danny Harte also made valuable contributions.
