After a nervoust start, Shels piled on the pressure on the restart and soon had a twelve point lead, but a late surge from the Faythe Harriers meant we were pushed all the way to the finish.
Harriers drew first blood before Benny Barron (F) and a Ronan Kavanagh goal settled the Shels. A second goal from Brian Doyle and points from Craig MCabe and Johnny Campbell meant we went into the break 2-3 to 0-7. Harriers were first on the scoreboard,on the resumption, but it was Shels all the way for the next 5 mins. Goals from Ronan Kavanagh and Johnny Campbell and points from Stephen Corrigan and Feargal Hynes put us well in the lead. Brian Doyle added a brace of points whilst Brian Tobin put us twelve points ahead with a lovely dispatch over the bar, in the 14th minute. However that was to be Shels last score of the day whilst the Harriers seem to find a second gear and hit 2-2 without reply, making for a tense climax to the semi final. Brian Murphy was called on to make a great save and the backs were certainly kept busy during this period. However Shels had done enough to make it through to the finals where they will meet Glynn/Barntown
Final score 4-8 to 2-10. Best for Shels were Shane Griffith, Stephen Corrigan, Brian Doyle and Brian Murphy.
We wish Feargal Hynes who was concussed in the first minutes of the game and had to attend hospital for a scan a speedy recovery and also to Johnny Campbell who received several stitches for a head wound.
