Several shelmalier players were on county duty last weekend
In the Tony Forrestal tournament,in Waterford, Kevin O’Connor, Garrylough Screen was our sole representative after James Cash, broke his ankle and was unavailable to play. Kevin gave a great account of himself and did the club proud.
In the Arrabawn tournament, in Tipperary, Craig McCabe, Garrylough, Screen, played with the A group, they were beaten by Limerick; they beat Offaly and lost to Clare in the semi final. Craig played at wing forward and in mid field for the semi final where he had an outstanding game. Conor Tobin, Curracloe, and Shane Birney, Castlebridge played in the B section of this high profile tournament, where they won all their games only going down to Kerry in the semi final. Conor captained Wexford for the day.
5 Shels minors were selected to travel to Cork with the Co. U17 team, James Gordon, Curracloe, Shane Griffith, Castlebridge, Feargal Hynes, Crosstown Aidan Cash, Screen and Stephen Corrigan, Ballyfarnogue. James and Aidan were unable to travel due to senior football commitments. They lost to a strong Clare and Dublin on the day. Shane played at corner back, Feargal at centre forward and Stephen at wing forward. Despite no silverware being won, all Shels players gave a great account of themselves. Well done lads.
