Junior Hurling V Gusserane

imShels bowed out of the junior championship in Patrick’s Park on Sat evening last when defeated by Gusserane first team 0-9 to 1-13.

Shels forced to start without regular full back Fergie Parker (hamstring) and Brian Tobin arm injury,  went into the break 4 points down and this difference was maintained for the duration of the match. Shels had one chance to level the match from a penalty but unfortunately this was saved and the rebound shot saw the sliothar go down the field for a point for Gusserane.

On the edge of full time Gusserane took advantage of confusion in the goal mouth and found the back of the net to leave the final score 0-9 to 1-13.

Best on the night were Ibar(hurler) Murphy, Brian Murphy in goal, Noel Mythen full back, Jamie Horan and Vinny Parker in the middle of the field and Aidan Cash. In truth the entire panel gave a great performance on the night and there is always next year for this predominantly young team.
