Hurling Co. Duty

Several shelmalier players will be in action on county duty this coming weekend and will be representing our club at various prestigious tournaments.

In the Tony Forrestal tournament, Kevin O’Connor, Garrylough Screen will be our sole representative after James Cash from Screen, broke his ankle and was therefore unavailable to play.

In the Arrawbawn tournament ( Wexford are the holders) Craig McCabe, Garrylough, Screen will travel to Kilsheelan, Tipperary to take part. Conor Tobin and Shane Birney will travel to Westmeath in the B section of this high profile tournament.

Meanwhile in preparation for next years Wexford minor hurling team, 5 shels have been selected to travel to Cork to take part in the tournament there. James Gordon, Curracloe at Centre back, Shane Griffith, Castlebridge, Corner back, Feargal Hynes, Crosstown, Centre forward, Aidan Cash, Screen, wing back and Stephen Corrigan, Ballyfarnogue at wing forward. This team already played Dublin in Gorey last Monday night and all the shels boys gave a great account of themselves. The team went down by 2 points on the night to a strong Dublin outfit, but as several regulars were missing due to the Co. U21Football championship, it augurs well for this team for the forthcoming Cork tournament.
