Minors cruise by Munnerane Gaels

bdShelmaliers travelled to Taghmon last Friday evening to play the Munnerane Gaels (Taghmon & Gusserane) in the minor hurling championship.

Missing county minor Feargal Hynes together with Conor Tobin and Glen Murphy who were in the Wexford Opera House with their award winning transition year project, Des Bishop playing the newly refurbished opera house, we were stretched to field an up to age team. Ronan Kavanagh (2-1) was back after injury and Dean Corrigan (0-1) was drafted in from the juveniles.

This ended up to be a very one sided game and Shels went into the break 7-8 to 1-1 up. James Gordon retiring at half time with a niggling ham string

For the second half the management swapped the forward and backs to give players a workout in new positions and this worked very well on the day. Brian Tobin (2-1) and Brian Murphy (0-2) keeping a plentiful supply of ball going in. Final score was 10-14 to 2-3.

On a day when all played their part, amongst those to perform best were county minors Benny Barron (0-3), Brian Doyle (3-2), also, Shane Griffith(1-2), Johnny Campbell (1-1) and Sean Walsh (1-1).
