St.Ibars/Shelmalier Minor Camogie Team put up a fight

On Tuesday the 17th of March in Glynn Barn St.Ibars/Shelmalier minor camogie team were defeated by the home side in the first round of the minor championship.  During the course of the match the girls showed tremendous heart and determination however lady luck failed to shine on them on the day.

In the first half St. Ibars dominated periodically containing the Glynn girls but unfortunately failed to convert good passages of play into scores. Glynn however made the most of their chances and led going into the break four points ahead on a score line of St. Ibars 0.01 Glynn 0.05.

The second half was a closely fought encounter however once again the dominance of Glynn girls finding scores was decisive.  However Lil Roche and Niamh Potter were unlucky not to give St. Ibars the lead when two goals were denied, one going narrowly wide across the face of the goal while the other was denied by the up right.

Unfortunately this ends the 2009 minor season for the St.Ibars girls however the girls can take considerable praise for their great display considering the defeat in the minor final by Glynn Barntown in 2008.2010 brings another season where the St. Ibars girls no doubt will be further improved and will be a force to be reckoned with.
