Senior Hurlers fail to progress

Our senior hurlers bowed out in the quarter finals of the Senior Hurling Championship against a more experienced Rathnure side.

Rathnure, playing with the wind had a dream start and quickly clocked up a strong lead. With 5 minutes to go in the first half, Shels found a second wind and hit 1-2 without reply, to leave the half time score 1-10 to 1-3. On the resumption it seemed Shels were going to take the game by the scruff of the neck when they opened with a brace of points, however the threatened challenge never really materialised and Rathnure traded point for point with the Shels for the remainder of the game, to leave the final score 1-13 to 1-8.
