Wexford won the highly prestigious Arrabawn tournament in Tipperary over the weekend, for the first time in its history.
The qualifiers were in Portroe, Tipperary, where they beat Laois 3-13 to 0-5 and Galway 0-9 to 0-8. The Semi final was in Nenagh where they came from 4 points behind to beat a fancied Offaly in the dying minutes of the game to win by a single point. The stage was set for a Kilkenny Wexford final in Semple Stadium on Sunday morning. Wexford were never really in danger and won out by 8 points at the end. Final score 1-19 to 2-08. Four Shelmalier players were on the panel, James Gordon (0-5), Feargal Hynes (1-6), Shane Griffith and Stephen Corrigan. All seen some action and Feargal and James were high profile players for the final. Indeed James Gordon was a candidate for man of the match at centre back. Well done to you all.
County Duty.
Other Shels players to feature for their county over the weekend were Aidan Cash, (U16 in Westmeath) Conor Tobin, Paraic O’Leary and Shane Berney (U15 in Enniscorthy)
