Carlow team Mount Leinster Rangers travelled to Hollymount on Friday night 8th August for a practice match with the home team.
Shels started the stronger, but in reality both teams were evenly matched. Shels finished the first half a point ahead. Score 1-8 to 1-7.
Both teams stepped up a gear on the resumption and it seemed for awhile the Shels would win out but a late rally from the visitors meant the game finished level. 2-19 to 3-16.
Stephen Banville back from county duty had a strong game scoring 1-3. Tommy Barron also back from injury had lost none of his touch and scored from play and converted free's with ease(0-5). Other's to score were Ibar Murphy(0-2), Ciaran O'Shaughnessy(1-2), Seamie Harding(0-3), Colin Kehoe(0-1) and Alan Griffith(0-3).
