Second half display ensure victory for Shels boys.
A great game of skillful hurling was witnessed in Hollymount on Saturday 6th June when the local under 14 hurling side took on Monageer in the fourth round of the championship. Wing forward Kevin O Connor got the black and amber side off to an early lead with a fine point from 30 yards, with the corner forward finishing a great team move, when finishing to the net. Neil Rossiter drove over two well taken points from frees to extend his teams winning margin. However, Monageer were not prepared to give up this match without a struggle and soon replied with a goal and two points of their own. The remainder of the half was an even affair with Monageer leading by the smallest of margins at the interval 2-5 to 3-3. The Shelmalier backs came under some pressure at the resumption but some great play from Sean Byrne in goal and his full back line of Damian Drennan, Eoghan Nolan and Eoin O Leary. These players were assisted by their half back line of Kevin Byrne, James Cash and Mark Mythen. Neil Rossiter contributed three further points with his great runs into the opponents forward line. Kevin O Connor was always lively where he was assisted by Stephen McGuire, Simon Donohoe, Colin Cleary and John Forde. After a great encounter the final score was 3-10 to 3-6 in favour of the home team.
