Stephen scores great opening goal for Wexford.
Starting in his first championship for Wexford at senior level Shelmaliers latest hurling star Stephen certainly made his presence felt with a fine over all performance for Wexford in their draw with Dublin in Kilkenny on Saturday last. Stephen made a great contribution to Wexford's forward play, in controlling all tha high balls that came into the full forward line, He certainly was a handful for the Dublin full back. After a slow start by Wexford, Stephen sent the Wexford supporters into delight when he picked up a ball on the 21 and raced for goal, first he seemed to have lost the ball, but recovered to fire in Wexford's first goal for 5 yards. He also had a big hand in Wexford's second goal shortly afterwards, when delivering a fine pass Eoin Quigley to score Wexford's second goal. A great second half performance by Wexford ensured we have another day out in Croke Park on Sunday next and all Shelmalier supporters will be looking forward to another fine display from Stephen and his Wexford team mates on the hollow turf of Croke Park.
