Hollymount was packed with players, parents and supporters on Saturday last for the much awaited finals of the ‘Over the Water’ under 10 hurling league. In the first match Blackwater and Oylegate/Glenbrien played out a very close game with Oylegate surviving a late rally by Blackwater to come out on top.
In the shield final the home team the Shelmaliers was up against the Faythe Harriers for the second year in a row. This game was very close in the first half with both defenses playing brilliantly. In the second half the Shels boys got into their stride, with some great individual scores from Daniel Campbell, Dylan Potter, Craig Parker and Kevin Harte.
The cup final was played between Oulart the Ballagh and Crossabeg Ballymurn and again this match was a very close game. After a very exciting match with some outstanding hurling on display, Crossabeg/Ballymurn coming through with a late goal. The green and white side was lighted when the final whistle was blown as they held out for a great victory.
The organizing committee would like to thank both Rory Jacob and George O Connor for presenting the medals. Also a special thanks to the parents who helped on the day to make this tournament a great success.
In conjunction with our senior hurler Seamus Harding we collected on the gate for his upcoming Operation Restore Hope trip to Kenya. On the day we collected €1145.00. Special thanks to our collectors Bryan Kehoe, Michael Feeney, Aodhan Foley and Aaron Murphy. Again the generosity of the community has to be highly praised. Sincere Thanks.
