Ballyhogue provide little opposition to Shels second win.
The Shelmalier junior hurlers crushed a very weak Ballyhogue team in the championship to record their second win in St Patrick’s Park on Sat evening on a final score line of 4-19 to 2-5. The over the water team completely dominated the opening half but had difficulty in getting the scores to take control of game. Joe Kelly scored a great opportunist goal when he met a cross in mid air and Conor Walsh added another goal when the goalkeeper failed to deal with his long delivery. With a half time comfortable score of 2-5 to 0-1 the Shelmalier scorers were, Joe Kelly 1-0, Conor Walsh 1-0, Conor Byrne 0-1 , Chris Wall 0-1, John Redmond 0-1 and Ciarian O Shaughnessy 0-1.
It was all one way traffic in second half from the start with Shels forwards enjoying shooting practice adding a further 2-14. Goals came from Conor Walsh and Barry Murphy and with Chris Wall adding six points the Shelmaliers could afford to give all the subs a chance in game. Shels should now be able to look forward to a semi fine place with some confidence after this sound display. Shels scorers in second half: C. Walsh 1-1 , C.Wall 0-6, C.Byrne 0-3, B.Murphy 1-0, J.Redmond 0-2 and J.Kelly 0-2
