It was a very one sided affair with the score line at half time 1-9 to 0-2 for the Shels. Adamstown came back a bit in the second half with a full time score of 1-18 to 1-05. Scores for the Shels were C.Wall 1-04 (4pts Frees), J.Kelly 0-05, C.Walsh 0.03, C. O'Shaughnessy 0-02, B.Doyle 0-02 and C.Byrne 0-02 (2pts Frees). It was a very good game with the Shels looking very good with good team play.

Shelmaliers under 16 hurlers took on near rivals Glynn Barntown in Killurin on Tuesday evening last and they conceding two goals inside the first 6 minutes we settled down after Feargal Hynes put us on the scoreboard with a point. After some even play, where Shels knitted well and half forward line worked hard, Glynn got a point but this was promptly answered with a powerful ground stroke from Sean Walsh which found the back of the net. Glynn finished the stronger of the two teams with 3 points scored before Shels added another 2 by Feargal Hynes to end the half on a scoreline of 2-4 to 1-3. On the resumption, Ronan Kavanagh who had been trying hard all evening was the first to score in the 2nd half with a point whilst Glynn added another two points before Ronan added his 2nd point of the evening. Glynn added a point and a goal and the writing seemed to be on the wall for the Shels. Three consolation points, with Benny Barron scoring 2 of them but it was too little too late.  The game finished on a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-8.

Our under 16 footballers took on Ferns in Hollymount on Sunday morning last and they got a great start with Brian Doyle firing to the net in the opening minutes. James Gordan, Kevin O Leary, and Fergal Hynes added further points before Rory O Leary added a second goal in the tenth minute, to put the Shels in the driving seat and leaving a half time score of 2-8 to 0-4. A below strength Shelmalier minor football first team got off to a sluggish start in their championship match against Gorey in Hollymount on Wednesday evening last. A point from Brian O Connor and a goal from Joe Kelly put the Shels into an early lead, but Gorey hit back with a number of well taken scores, to leave the Shels leading by a single point at the interval. Gorey started the brighter in the second half with a goal and two points. But the Shels hit back and regained the lead with their own point and goal from Brian Doyle and Benny Barron. Gorey got the last score of the game to leave the sides tied at the final whistle. The Shelmalier under 21 hurling team traveled to Oulart village 2nd July to take on the local team in the first round of the championship in front of a large crowd of supporters.  Our team played with great skill and determination in a very completive and exciting championship first round against match. The black and amber side fielded a very young team with 8 minors on starting lineup and on a pitch that was doubtfully declared playable. This resulted in over half of pitch practically under water which favoured the physically stronger Oulart side. However the Shelmaliers took the game to their opponents and went in at half time only one point in arrears. The Shelmaliers had led at one stage of game with well taken goal from Joe Kelly when he batted a center from James Murphy to the net. The half time score was Oulart 0-7 Shelmaliers 1-3 with Chris Wall 0-2, Joe Kelly 1-0 and Thomas Barron 0-1 the scorers for the Shels.
The Shels continued to play great hurling and took the game to Oulart for second half and with 5 minutes remaining were still level. With Shels main player Brian Malone tiring after playing at full back on Wexford senior football team the day before a stronger Oulart side began to take control and with referee playing 10 minutes of extra time got the scores which in no way reflected the competitive nature of match. Great performances on Shels team from Ciarian Murphy in goals, Jimmer Doyle and Arron Watters who was outstanding at full back, Brian Malone at center field and Joe Kelly. The final score was Oulart 1-16 Shelmaliers 1-6 with Chris Wall 0-1, Eoin Doyle 0-1 and Willie O Shaughnessy 0-1 the scorers for the Shelmaliers in the second half.

The Shelmalier  junior hurling team finished their league campaign with two recent matches against Clongeen and the Rapareers. In the first game against Clongeen they recorded a fine victory to remain unbeaten in this group. Shelmaliers started slowly and only had 3 points on board at half time all from Chris Wall with 2 frees and one point from play. Adrian Harpur replaced Emmet O Leary injured at half time and playing with more spirit took the lead after 10 min with a goal from John Redmond after the ball had hit the post. Clongeen came back briefly but with  10 min remaining Adrian Harpur put the Shelmaliers back in front with well taken goal and the Shels finished strongly winning by 2-1 to 1-10. Shels scorers in second half : Adrian Harpur 1-0, John Redmond 1-2, C. Wall 0-3, Darren Roche 0-1, Cathal Gaule 0-1 and David Cloney  0-1. Good performances on the day for the Shelmaliers were;  David Cloney, Michael Kingston, Jimmer Doyle, Adrian Harpur,  John Redmond and Chris Wall.
In their final match in the junior league the Shelmalier junior hurling team finished their matches in the group stage unbeaten following a great win over a fancied Rappareers side in Bellefield. The first half was played in a downpour and a very young Shelmalier team were unlucky to go in behind after conceding a easy goal before half time. The half time score was Shelmalier 0-5 Rapareers 2-4, with Chris Wall and Joe Kelly on the scoreboard for the black and amber. The Shelmaliers completely dominated the second half of game and drew level after 13 min with a point from a 65 by Chris Wall and from there onwards they held the lead for the remainder of the match.  Chris Wall put the Shels  a goal ahead when he finished off a delivery from Ciarian O Shaughnessy after rounding the full back. The Shelmaliers played there best hurling at this stage and ran out easy winners with Alan Griffith adding another goal, Joe Kelly 2 points Tommie Barron and Chris Wall 1 point each. The team now goes forward to contest the final. Second half scores for the Shelmaliers were Alan Griffith 1-1, C. Wall 1-3, T. Barron 0-2, Joe. Kelly 0-2 and Shane Murphy 0-1.
