Shelmaliers, the reigning county champions, got off to a winning start in the defence of the premier under 12 crown with a convincing victory over a game Glynn Barntown 15.
The free running Shels' forward line powered on the scores in a dominant first half and led the interval by 2-7 to 1-2. The goals came courtesy of a fine finish from converted full forward Colin Cleary and a trademark opportunistic finish from John Forde.
The second half saw Glynn Barntown get more into the game and eventually ended up with a scoreline of 3-6 but the Shels ran out convincing winners with an impressive final tally of 4-14.
The second-half goals came from speedy substitute Conor Davidson with Colin Cleary bagging the 2nd of his brace of goals. There was also some magnificent point taking from the forward line with Stephen Maguire scoring 4 fine points from play. One of the biggest cheers of the day was reserved for a superb point from the popular Luke “Gooch” Jackson
