The Shelmalier Senior hurlers played out a highly competitive League match with Buffers Alley in Hollymount on Thursday evening last. The Shelmaliers started very well and got off to a great start with a fine goal from Stephen Banville after a pass from Chris McGrath. The Shels added to this score with another goal when the Buffers Allley goalkeeper failed to deal with a long delivery by Fergie Parker. First half scorers were Fergie Parker 1-1, Chris McGrath 0-1 and S.Banville 1-0. The Shelmaliers played with much more determination and drive in the second half and had Buffers Alley under tremendous pressure and were unlucky not to take the game. Buffers Alley scored their last goal in injury time against the run of play. The home team had restricted the Alley to 2 points from frees for the second half. Full time score: Shelmaliers 2-8 Buffers Alley 2-13, with F.Parker 0-4, I. Murphy 0-1 and S.Harding 0-1 the second half scorers.
