Shels travelled to Oulart  to take on an Oulart team that needed the win as badly as we did ourselves to keep on course to qualify for the  knockout stages.
First Half: The first half was a tight affair, with the Shels playing against a slight breeze.  Our team, rejigged to compensate for the absence of a number of holiday-making players, dug in and led for the whole half thanks to an early Glen Murphy goal and a well-taken  point from Shane Bierney.  Craig McCabe and A.J. Lehane were breaking even in midfield and our backs, although in many cases smaller than their opposite numbers,  were holding tight. We led by 1-1 to 0-3 at the half – time break.

Second half: Oulart made a spirited start to the second half and briefly led by a point within the first ten minutes. However, with the O’ Leary cousins, Pádraic and Eoin, in fine form in the full-back line, and Eoghan Fitzgerald very solid outside of them, the Shels asserted themselves. Craig McCabe was in fine form now and supplied great ball inside where time and again Glen Murphy and Shane Bierney drove at a beleaguered Oulart defence. In the middle period of the second half Glen and Shane notched four goals between them to end the game as a contest. A feature of our game at this point was some fine combination play which led to a lot of scores. Simon Murphy scored a beauty and Neil Rossiter contributed two valuable points also. Kevin Byrne came into the game , took up some good positions and contributed well. We ran out winners on a 5-5 to 0-8 scoreline.
