Near neighbours Crossabeg -Ballymurn visited Hollymount on 15th May in the Junior B football Championship and after a great encounter the home team was defeated by 2-7 to 3-10.  It was a great first half with both teams well matched. C.Beg/B.Murn was the fitter team but Shels played the best football. The atmosphere was exciting with good support for both teams. A good goal by Martin Nolan gave Shels the upper hand, but poor back play let the opposition in for a goal which left the half-time score at 1-6 to 1-4 in favour of Ballymurn. The Shels would pay dearly for a lot of missed chances.

In the second half, Ballymurn’s fitness really began to show. Poor defending allowed them in for two quick goals and the Shels found the pace too much. The Shels introduced 5 subs, 4 of them minors, to try to up the pace. But Crossabeg- Ballymurn had too much strength to go with their fitness and ran out easy winners.
But this was a good performance for the Shels as this was Crossabeg/Ballymurn’s
1st team while it was Shels 3rd team. The next round is against Glynn-Barntown next Tuesday.
